Pratt & Whitney Opens New Airplane Engine-Parts Plant in Morocco
Pratt & Whitney Canada has officially opened a new airplane-engine manufacturing facility in Morocco.
The plant is located in the Midparc Industrial Zone in Nouaceur, a town and province in the Casablanca region
The 130,000-square-foot site will produce detailed static and structural machined parts for Pratt & Whitney Canada aircraft engines, including the PT6 engine family, and is expected to create approximately 200 new jobs by 2030 while expanding production capacity to meet growing customer demand for reliable engines.
“This site is a strategic extension of our global production network and demonstrates our commitment to building resilient supply chains worldwide that will enable us to increase production for our customers,” said Maria Della Posta, president of Pratt & Whitney Canada. “Through close collaboration with local organizations, we’re developing the next generation of aerospace professionals, investing in the communities in which we operate and helping reinforce Morocco’s position as a leader in the aerospace industry.”
Since breaking ground in 2024, the facility has moved rapidly toward operational readiness, including workforce recruitment, technical training, and installation of advanced machining equipment. It has been designed using lean manufacturing principles and incorporates digital systems aimed at improving quality, efficiency, and operational performance, said the company.
Based in Longueil, Que., Pratt & Whitney is a subsidiary of U,S.-headquartered global aviation giant RTX. Collins Aerospace, another RTX business, has also operated in Morocco since 2012, manufacturing cockpit solutions and flight controls. Together, the two RTX operations employ approximately 250 people in the country.
Pratt & Whitney is focused on the design, manufacture, and service of aircraft engines and auxiliary-power units for military, commercial, and civil aviation customers, supporting more than 90,000 in-service engines worldwide.
