Promise Robotics Opens New Prefab Homebuilding Factory in Calgary
Promise Robotics has commenced production at its new prefabricated homebuilding factory in Calgary.
The facility features about 60,000 square feet of deployment space dedicated to boosting housing production to the regions with AI-driven robots at what the company calls a critical time for Alberta. Promise noted that experts predict Calgary alone must build 9,000 more new homes annually to restore housing affordability to pre-pandemic levels.
“The success of prefabrication in Canada needs to come with strong local industries that make the industrial and technological backbone for scaling prefabrication in order to much more lasting economic benefit,” said Ramtin Attar, CEO and co-founder of Promise. “We are helping to unlock the housing supply the province urgently needs–not with small pilots, but with real, industrial-scale solutions that empower builders to do more with less. Our facility will help simplify the com
Located at 11575 N.E., the new plant can manage the production of new homes within a few weeks. The opening comes after Promise and Mattamy Homes began partnering to scale up two master-planned communities in Alberta comprising prefabricated residences.
The robotics firm’s technologies will support Mattamy as it delivers single-family, semi-detached and multi-family residences. The partnership is designed to show how integrating advanced robotics and AI directly into Mattamy’s homes can deliver units at lower costs and enhance scalable, high-quality construction amid ongoing housing and labour shortages.
The Calgary manufacturing facility will serve as a flagship hub for next-generation homebuilding and provide a scalable model that can be replicated in U.S. markets.
The facility is also designed to be a production hub for new Calgary communities while also offering local builders access to advanced homebuilding capabilities that enable them to scale faster without having to invest in costly automation or manufacturing expertise.
The AI-driven company specializes in transforming industrial robots into autonomous production systems for home construction and expects the facility to produce up to 1 million square feet of housing annually.
The Calgary plant is the second Promise robotics facility opened in Canada since 2024, following the launch of an Edmonton location.
