Pusateri’s to Close in Yorkville, Open in Little Italy
Grocer Pusateri’s Fine Foods is set to close its location in Toronto’s Yorkville district after more than 20 years of operation.
Pusateri’s has opted not to renew its lease on the property, citing changes in the retail landscape. A spokesperson for Pusateri’s confirmed the forthcoming closure in an email to the Toronto Star, adding that the store will shut its doors permanently by the end of March.
However, the company is preparing to unveil a new concept store in Little Italy.
And, Pusateri’s will maintain operations at its three other locations: Avenue Road, Bayview Village, and Eaton Centre. Employees affected by the Yorkville store closure will have opportunities for continued employment within the organization, the Pusateri’s spokesperson told the Star.
The new venture in Little Italy will be located at 899 College Street. The company describes the forthcoming establishment as a blend of concepts, featuring both a neighbourhood-focused fine food grocery store and a novel quick-food service outlet.
The hybrid model aims to offer fresh meals, breakfast offerings, and coffee.
