Putman Acquires Northern Reflections 134-Store Women’s Clothing Chain
Putman Investments has acquired iconic Canadian women’s fashion retailer Northern Reflections for an undisclosed price.
The acquisition coincides with the chain’s 40th anniversary. Northern Reflections has 134 stores across nine provinces, along with a growing e-commerce platform. Financial details of the transaction were not disclosed.
“The apparel industry has always been on our radar, but we were looking for the right opportunity to get into the space,” said Doug Putman, founder of Putman Investments, in a news release. “Northern Reflections is a great Canadian heritage brand with a loyal customer base, strong leadership, and a dedicated in-store team. We really like where the business is now, along with the strategic vision of the leadership team, and look forward to supporting future plans for the company.”
In a separate statement quoted by the Canadian Press, he said all 134 stores are included in the deal and will remain open.
Northern Reflections, established in 1985, employs more than 860 people across Canada and is known for its stylish, versatile, and comfortable women’s fashions.
Maryann Darling, president of Northern Reflections, will continue to lead the company under its new Ancaster, Ont.-based ownership.
“Since 1985, Northern Reflections has been a cornerstone of Canadian retail, offering our customers quality, comfort, and timeless style,” Darling said in the news release. “Our business will only get better. I’m excited about our new ownership, and we look forward to continuing to serve our loyal customers in all our store locations and online.”
Doug Putman, known for revitalizing notable brands such as Sunrise Records, Toys”R”Us Canada, and HMV in the U.K., adds Northern Reflections to a diverse portfolio of retail ventures. His companies collectively employ about 20,000 people across Canada, the U.S. and the U.K.United Kingdom.
