Revamped Oakridge to Get 500 EV Charging Stations

Oakridge Park, Vancouver’s largest redevelopment project, will be equipped with 500 electric-vehicle (EV) charging stations supplied by Hypercharge Networks, the company announced.

Oakridge Park is the former 28-acre Oakridge mall site. The massive five-year redevelopment is jointly led by QuadReal Property Group and Westbank, which are both based in Vancouver. The former mall is being transformed into a multi-use urban centre, including 850,000 square feet of retail, approximately 3,000 multi-residential suites, and 700,000 sf of of office space.

Hypercharge’s installation includes 300 wall-mounted Level 2 chargers and 200 overhead Level 2 chargers, the latter specially designed to accommodate Oakridge Park’s high-density valet parking system. This setup aims to “maximize efficiency while maintaining seamless accessibility,” said David Bibby, president and CEO of Hypercharge.

“Redefining what urban redevelopment can look like, Oakridge Park sets a new benchmark for large scale EV charging infrastructure with an innovative approach tailored for one of Canadaʼs most significant redevelopments,” Bibby added.

Chrystal Burns, executive vice-president of Canadian retail at QuadReal, said the partnership with Hypercharge ensures that Oakridge Park is equipped with an innovative, space-efficient EV-charging solution that meets the evolving needs of residents, tenants, and visitors alike.

“This initiative aligns with our broader sustainability goals and reinforces our vision of creating a truly modern, connected urban community,” said Burns.

Hypercharge is collaborating with Precise ParkLink to manage parking operations at the site. The firm is a long-standing partner, providing integrated parking and mobility solutions across Canada.

Oakridge Park will open its doors later this year. An existing medical-office building and a ground-floor Craft and Barrel store are the only parts of the original site that have remained open during the lengthy construction process.
