Sanofi Invests $180M to Build, Update Toronto Campus Infrastructure
Sanofi Canada is investing $180 million to build and update infrastructure at its Toronto biomanufacturing plant campus.
In conjunction with the investment, Sanofi has broken ground on its Energy Project at the 54-acre campus that produces vaccines. French and Ontario government and City of Toronto officials attended an official groundbreaking ceremony.
Sanofi Canada is a subsidiary of Sanofi, a Paris-based global healthcare and pharmaceutical company that operates in 100 countries.
The Energy Project will ensure a reliable electrical and steam supply for current and future campus buildings, said the company in a news release.
“This investment is in addition to a C$2 billion joint investment with governments at all levels at our Toronto campus to build two new state-of-the-art vaccine manufacturing facilities by 2027,” said Matthieu Puyet, Sanofi’s head of manufacturing and supply and the Toronto site head.
The Toronto campus employs 2,000 people. Sanofi has invested C$1.2 billion in Canada over the past decade.
