By Amy Wolff Sorter

Alex Akman is Shindico’s Chief Operating Officer and a member of the Executive Management team. He oversees and manages the company’s day-to-day operations and is also responsible for business development and maximizing profitability.  His major milestones include driving $275 million of commercial and multifamily acquisitions and developing $115 million of industrial and multifamily.

He was in charge of founding and integrating SNR Construction Ltd., a general contracting division in the Shindico Group of Companies. He also guided the merger of Akman Property Management staff and operations with Shindico.

In addition to his daily responsibilities, Akman mentors employees throughout the company, with a special focus on younger staff members.

He serves as BOMA Manitoba’s treasurer and is the youngest member on the board. His efforts helped Shindico achieve BOMA Best Gold status and the Earth and Toby awards.

In addition to serving on the boards of BOMA Manitoba and PPMA, Akman is involved in several philanthropic activities supporting CJPAC, CISA, pet rescue and prairie wildlife organizations.

These are just a few reasons we chose Alex Akman as one of Connect CRE Canada’s 2025 Next Generation Award winners. Connect CRE’s annual Next Generation Awards recognize young leaders who will have a strong influence on the commercial real estate industry.
