T&T Picks Date for Downtown Toronto Store Opening
The T&T Supermarket chain has chosen Feb. 13 as the opening date for its long-awaited new store in downtown Toronto.
The 31,000-square-foot store will be located at 20 Edward Street in the Panda Condos, a project by Lifetime Development. The site, familiar to many Torontonians, was formerly home to the World’s Biggest Bookstore.
The property is located within walking distance of Toronto Metropolitan University, Sankofa Square and Eaton Centre.
T&T, Canada’s largest Asian-grocery chain, identified the need for another conveniently located store in downtown Toronto following the success of its location at College and Spadina streets.
“We’ve seen such overwhelming demand at our College and Spadina location; we knew the city was ready for more,” said Tina Lee, CEO of T&T when the company first announced the store project in 2023.
“When deciding on the location of the new store, we knew a large portion of our delivery orders were going to the Yonge and Dundas area, so it was the natural choice.”
The new store will cater to local residents and students, providing a variety of products tailored to their needs.
“University students, with their busy schedules and often on their own for the first time, may not have the time or the knowhow to cook for themselves,” said Lee. “In addition to ready-to-eat meals, fresh fruits and vegetables, and, of course, late-night study snacks, we’re happy to offer students in the area some familiar flavours from home.”
The selection of an opening date for the downtown Toronto store follows T&T’s expansion into the United States, where it opened its first location in December in Bellevue, Wash., a suburb of Seattle.
Richmond, B.C.-based T&T now operates 36 locations in Canada and the U.S.
