T&T Supermarket Opens First Store in Southern California
The T&T Supermarket chain has expanded into the Southern California grocery sector with the opening of a new store in the Los Angeles area.
The new store is located in the L.A. suburb of Irvine, Calif., within the Canopy at Great Park shopping centre near the future Highway 33 interchange. Richmond, B.C.-based T&T ranks as Canada’s largest grocer.
The Southern California debut follows the opening of T&T first U.S. store in the Seattle suburb of Bellevue, Wash., in December 2024.
“Ever since we announced our U.S. entry, we have been getting customer requests all across the United States,” said Tina Lee, CEO of T&T. “It should be no surprise to anyone that Irvine takes a top spot on the wish list, and the first store we are announcing in Southern California.
“I know T&T may not be well-known in Irvine, but we are excited to surprise our shoppers with a unique shopping experience.”
Unlike many T&T locations, the new Irvine store features a collection of wines and spirits, with a special focus on Korean soju and Japanese sake.
The Canopy at Great Park is owned and managed by Almquist, a San Juan Capistrano-based real estate development and investment firm.
“As the Great Park [community] continues to evolve, this location will truly become a one-of-a-kind draw for the community,” Dan Almquist, the company’s CEO. “We’re especially excited to welcome T&T Supermarket as a flagship retailer and exceptional grocery destination for the community, bringing an internationally recognized brand to Irvine and reinforcing our commitment to best-in-class offerings.”
According to T&T, the store will create 120 jobs for the local community.
Richmond, B.C.-based T&T is Canada’s largest Asian grocer.
