Two Towers Planned for VGH Expansion

The City of Vancouver has received a development application for two towers as part of a phased expansion of the Vancouver General Hospital campus.

The proposed development site is located at 900-990 W. 12th Avenue.

The VGH & UBC Hospital Foundation, which owns the property, is seeking to develop two mixed-use buildings with institutional space and ground-floor commercial uses.

Westbourne Projects is managing the effort, while architecture firm Musson Cattell Mackey Partnership is designing the development.

Plans include a 26-storey west building with 280 seniors’ long-term care beds, clinical and diagnostic space, clinical-support functions, and physician offices. A future 28-storey east building would feature clinical space, medical offices, childcare, and public open space.

The project has a proposed floor-space ratio (FSR) of 14.15.
