Japanese men’s and women’s clothing retailer Uniqlo is getting ready to open new stores in the Calgary area and Edmonton.

Uniqlo announced that it will open a new location at Cross Iron Mills in Rocky View County, just outside Calgary’s northern city limits.

Rocky View County is considered part of the Calgary commercial real estate market.

Uniqlo will also open a new store at South Edmonton Commons in the Alberta capital.

The forthcoming openings are part of Uniqlo’s ongoing Canadian expansion program.

In addition, Uniqlo is preparing to open its first store in Victoria, B.C., at billionaire mall owner Ruby Liu’s Mayfair Shopping Centre. It remains to be seen whether Uniqlo will take up space in the area that previously housed a Hudson’s Bay Company department store.

Liu secured the lease covering the for space as part of a $6-million purchase of three former Bay leases at B.C. malls that she owns. She is also attempting to acquire 25 other Bay leases elsewhere in B.C., Alberta and Ontario.

Uniqlo is also getting set to open a new store at the Galeries de la Capitale mall in Quebec City. The stores will stock he current lineup of LifeWear apparel for men, women, kids, and babies, seasonal collaborations, and Uniqlo’s range of graphic T-shirts and other items.

“This is a huge milestone for Uniqlo Canada,” said Yuya Tanahashi, the firm’s chief operating officer for Canada. “We remain grounded in our made-for-all philosophy, product innovation, and meaningful relationships with new and longstanding customers. I am optimistic about our Canadian growth, and we look forward to bringing LifeWear to even more customers in new locations.”

The four new stores are scheduled to open by the fall. Once they are open, Uniqlo will have 37 Canadian locations.
