Vancouver Posted Canada’s Highest Apartment Asking Rents in First Half

Vancouver recorded Canada’s highest average asking two-bedroom apartment rent in the first quarter, says a new Statistics Canada report.

StatCan says the average Vancouver asking rent was $3,170, down from $3,440 in the first quarter of 2024.

By comparison, Toronto’s average asking rent stood at $2,690, falling from $2,850 a year earlier. Victoria, B.C., a secondary market, posted a $2,680 average compared to $2,690 in the first quarter of 2024.

Ottawa’s average asking rent increased $200 year-over-year to $2,490 from $2,290.
