Verillium to Acquire 42 Wellwise by Shoppers Stores

Verillium Health Care has agreed to acquire 42 Wellwise by Shoppers locations from Shoppers Drug Mart.

The transaction is expected to conclude in the first quarter of 2025, with Shoppers Drug Mart continuing to operate the stores until the sale is finalized.

Wellwise by Shoppers offers a range of active lifestyle products, including supports and braces, CPAP and sleep therapy equipment, mobility aids, and low-impact fitness products. These are designed to support Canadians in maintaining healthy and active lifestyles as they age.

“Wellwise by Shoppers is a trusted, established support for so many Canadians, and we are honoured to continue and build on that legacy and serve the needs of Canadians,” said Dezso Farkas, director of acquisitions and chief Investment officer at Toronto-based Verillium.

Verillium specializes in enhancing healthcare services through strategic acquisitions, operational improvements, and advanced technologies. Its portfolio spans a range of services, including at-home care, rehabilitation, medical supplies, and maternity care.

“This next evolution for the business is about finding the right company to focus on its continued growth, while making products and services more accessible to Canadians,” said Jeff Leger, president of Shoppers Drug Mart.

“We believe Verillium perfectly suits that objective.”

Shoppers Drug Mart is Canada’s largest pharmacy retailer with about 1,300 locations across the country.
