Vesta Unveils 47-Storey Broadway on 17th Project

Vesta Properties is developing a 47-storey multi-family tower and two others near downtown Calgary.

Vesta calls the Broadway on 17th project a transformative new residential development. The project is located on the high-visibility corner of 17th Avenue and Fourth Street S.W., within walking distance of the core and close to many retail outlets and other amenities, including the Stampede grounds and C-Train stations.

The development, which will be the tallest residential community in the city, aims to redefine urban living by blending modern luxury with a historically significant location, says Langley, B.C.-based Vesta, which also has a Calgary office.

Broadway on 17th will feature a mixed-use, master-planned community with the three architecturally designed high-rise towers comprising approximately 1,000 multi-residential units across approximately 1 million square feet. The multi-family component includes a mix of for-sale, rental, and affordable-housing options.

The development will also include 70,000-sf of commercial space, integrating retail, dining, and public amenities to enhance walkability and community engagement.

“As we expand our presence in Calgary, Broadway represents our vision for the future – a vibrant community located in one of the most iconic areas of downtown,” said Kent Sillars, president of Vesta. “This redevelopment is poised to redefine Calgary’s Beltline, setting a new standard for downtown living.”

The project will address a critical need for housing diversity in the Beltline by offering studio, one-bedroom, two-bedroom, and three-bedroom residences, including penthouse units, says Vesta. In partnership with the City of Calgary, the company is incorporating a significant number of affordable housing options to support long-term economic and social growth.

The project’s key features include:

  • Approximately 300 rental units and about 700 condominium units;
  • Premium amenities, including fitness centres, lounges, pet-friendly spaces, and co-working areas
  • ground-level retail and dining spaces featuring restaurants, cafés, and local businesses;
  • Panoramic views of downtown Calgary and the Rocky Mountains;
  • Proximity to cultural and entertainment districts, including Stampede Park and 17th Avenue, and;
  • Ample parking and walking-distance access to transit.

Condo presales are set to begin in summer 2025.
