Italy’s Ferragamo Opens New Toronto Store
Italian luxury women’s fashion retailer Ferragamo has opened a new store in downtown Toronto.
Ferragamo leased 5,305 square feet in The Colonnade in the Bloor-Yorkville district, said the mall’s Toronto-based owner and manager Morguard in a news release. The 131 Bloor Street location became Florence-based Ferragamo’s fourth location in Canada.
“It’s been a goal of ours to bring a new audience into Ferragamo under the creative direction of Maximilian Davis, and Toronto is an important market to help us to do [that],” Daniella Vitale, CEO for Ferragamo’s Americas division, told online publication Women’s Wear Daily.
Bloor Street has transformed into one of the world’s top destinations for luxury retailers, she added. The Colonnade, a heritage property, was Canada’s first mixed-use building, according to Morguard.
David Wyatt, Morguard’s senior vice-president of retail, said the Ferragamo opening has strengthened the institutional investor’s position in the luxury retail leasing.
In August, Japanese clothing retailer Uniqlo opened its first Canadian location in Calgary.
