Khalighi Becomes Newmark’s Senior Managing Director in Vancouver

Newmark has hired Yashar Khaligi as its senior managing director in Vancouver.

Khalighi will play a key role in advancing the firm’s capital markets platform in Canada while focusing on institutional and private capital investment in commercial real estate, said the U.S.-based company in the news release.

“Yashar’s arrival signals a new chapter of growth, as we continue to attract top-tier talent to elevate our service offerings,” said Norm Taylor, Newmark’s president and country head for Canada.

Khalighi has more than a decade of brokerage experience and an extensive background in planning, construction and development.

During his career, Khalighi has specialized in the acquisition and disposition of high-income properties and development land throughout B.C. He joined Newmark from CBRE in Vancouver, where he was a vice-president and spent six years advising international buyers on acquisitions of income-producing and development properties across the region.

In 2023, he negotiated the sale of Surrey’s Strawberry Hill Shopping Centre. The deal was the largest retail real estate transaction pf the year in B.C.

Before moving to CBRE, he was a top-level producer at the Vancouver-based boutique brokerage firm Macdonald Commercial.
