Large Canadian Retailers Joining Oakridge Store Lineup

Arc’teryx, Aritzizia, Lululemon and other large Canadian retailers will set up shop at Vancouver’s redeveloped Oakridge shopping centre.

QuadReal and Westbank, the partners in the major redevelopment project, unveiled the new additions Wednesday while announcing plans for a summer series of social events at the site, now named Oakridge Park.

Other Canadian retailers coming to Oakridge will include BC Liquor, Greentee Golf, Canada Safeway and clothiers Canada Goose and Harry Rosen.

It was already known that a Safeway store would be located there. The chain previously operated a store at Oakridge and was scheduled to have a new location there. (Canadian Safeway stores have a different owner, Loblaw, than the U.S. Safeway business.)

Toronto-based Harry Rosen previously announced that the company would open a new store at Oakridge as part of a $50-million upgrade to its men’s clothing store fleet. The new Oakridge store is being designed by Toronto-based DK Studio Architects, which is also working on upgrades to Harry Rosen stores in downtown Toronto and at West Edmonton Mall.

]The Canadian retailers will operate at Oakridge with several big-name international jewellers, including Tiffany, which will return to the site, and Rolex, which is collaborating with Vancouver-based Global Watch Company on a 6,000-square-foot boutique. The jewellers’ tenancies were announced previously, along with the upcoming arrivals of several women’s fashion boutiques and big-name brands like Louis Vuitton and Versace.

The social event series will include Wimbledon Happy Hour on July 4, 5, 11 and 12 during the famed British tennis tournament. Cinema in the Park will run from July 12 to August 2 and Family Summer Portraits will be held August 16 to 18 and August 30 to September 2.

People wishing to attend the summer social events can register in advance.

According to Quadreal and Westbank, Oakridge Park ranks as Canada’s largest redevelopment effort. The project, involves almost a complete overhaul of the mall. Only one existing store, a ground-level Crate & Barrel location, and a medical-office component (all part of the same building) remain open.

The redeveloped property will include multi-residential buildings and strata-office spaces. The project has attracted billions in private and public real estate investment in projects in the surrounding Oakridge area.

The revamped retail centre is slated to open in 2025.
