Heads Firm's Operations in Atlantic Canada

Role Spans Marketing, Operations, Compliance, Technology, HR and Internal Co-ordination

Melissa Gilbert serves as chief operating officer for Cushman & Wakefield Atlantic operations, overseeing four offices across Atlantic Canada.

Her role spans marketing, operations, compliance, technology, human resources and internal co-ordination. By ensuring that the firm’s operational infrastructure runs smoothly and efficiently, Gilbert helps the ownership remain focused on strategic growth, brokerage leadership and long-term vision.

Gilbert has played a key role in several of the firm’s significant and complex assignments, including the disposition of Sunnyside Mall, a 60-year-old, 14.28-acre neighborhood retail and office property.

She also supported the sale of the largest enclosed retail mall in Atlantic Canada, a 690,000-square-foot asset that included land with the development potential for approximately 3,000 residential units.

Gilbert is a mentor and trainer to new marketing and operational team members. On the industry level, she has been involved with Atlantic Women in Commercial Real Estate (AWCRE) since its founding and has received a leadership certificate from CREW.

In the community, Gilbert is a member of the executive leadership committee of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and an active supporter of Angel Tree.

These are just a few reasons we chose Melissa Gilbert as a 2026 Canadian Next Generation Award Winner. The annual awards recognize young leaders who will have a strong influence on the commercial real estate industry.
